Little girls...

So for reference, Yvonne blogged Brynley's hair last post. Well, this morning for church Yvonne had prepped Brynley's hair last night and it turned out very similar to that picture. Of course she looks adorable, but we're the biased parents, right?

Well, we pull into the church parking lot and are unloading the kids when Brynley looks up at her mom and says, "Someone's gonna look at me and say I'm pretty." I don't even know what to say, but it sure was cute. We had a good chuckle on the way into the church.

Some more pictures of my family

Just thought I would put some more pictures up while I am at it.
On Sunday's, after church my kids love to make treats.
This is some caramel corn we made, yummy!!!
I love Sunday afternoons.
My Brynley girl. We waved her hair for school pictures. We went and picked up her pictures from the school a few weeks later and she loved them. She held her picture in front of her and said "oh my goodness" like 6 times and then said" I need to show my daddy". It was so cute!!
I caught her doing this while our bedroom was in chaos and the phone was on the floor. Don't you love it? Is she 3 or 13?
Fudgesicle mess!!
First day of preschool. She loves her Miss Tina!!
Braden out on the soccer field. He did so good this year in soccer and made quite a few goals. Go Braden!!!!

House Paint and Carpet Done!!!!

Yeah!!!! After 5 weeks of chaos the painting and carpet are done! We painted Brynley's room first, painting it (princess) yellow. Braden's room was next, painting it (transformer) blue. The bathroom was next painting it a light green. We also upgraded the mirror in the bathroom to huge!! Our room was next, painting it a color called mortality. Scott says it looks like chocolate milk. I like it alot, but I really like chocolate milk. The next was the hall, front room, and kitchen all in the same color all in one day. Whewww, what a project. Especially all the taping, and taking off all the light switch and plug covers. We even took down Scott's 80 lb. T.V. and the rack it is up on, so we could "do it right". That day was about 12 hours of painting. Scott did the edging and I did the rolling of the paint. Let me say I was beyond sore the next few days.
Next came the taking out of the old carpet. Let me just say disgusting!! Thank you to my friend who let me use her shop vac to get up all the dirt. Lots and lots of dirt! And then finally, the new carpet. Which is by the way what started this whole project. I wanted new carpet. But since our paint was the original paint and the studs and nails were showing through the wall, we thought it would be easier to paint without having to worry about the carpet.
Some pictures....

During the painting of the hall, kitchen, and front room.

After the carpet was pulled out.
After the carpet was installed!! YEAH!!!!!!!
I don't want to use a paint roller for years!
Now I just have to get the pictures back on the walls and window treatments up.
We'll see how that goes!!

Braden's Surgery

Braden got his tonsils and adenoids out on August 7th. I think I was more nervous than he was. The doctor said it would be about a ten day recovery and it was eleven days until school started, so I was hoping it would all go well in the healing process.

The day of surgey Braden could not eat at all and he didn't go in until 11:00 a.m. That is a long time for a seven year old. He got all teary when I told him he couldn't eat or drink until I told him I wouldn't eat or drink with him. That's a long time for a 33 year old.

Well, he made it through surgery all right, he was crying and scared right after. He kind of freaked out about the I.V. in him. Average recovery time is about an hour and we were there for about 2 1/2 hours. He puked all the red slushy and water everywhere, so we had to start over because they wouln't let him go until he kept down so much fluid. Well, then the codeine knocked him out, so he slept for a while. (In the meantime, some girl that just got her tonsils out had come in an hour after him and already left for home. )

After a few days of no speaking because he thought it would hurt, and quite a bit of puking he started to feel better. Thank Goodness!!!!!!

Here's some pictures...........

Right before the surgery.

Right after the surgery.

See the buddy he is holding. They are genious with that. I had no idea that would give him such comfort after. The hospital staff had him color his face and during the surgery put a wrap around its hand where he had his I.V. He held and slept with it for days!
This is when we got home!

I thought he would never get better, but here he is 11 days after the surgery ready for the first day of school. Handsome boy!!!

Camping Trip June 2008

We had our first camping trip of this year!

We went up Spanish Fork Canyon to a place Chad and Brook have been to before. It was a great place to camp.

We also had a few additions to our camping gear that made things more pleasant.

  • An EZ up tent to go over the table.
  • A 3-burner stove.
  • A table to cook the dutch oven (no bending down).
  • A bigger tent.

We loved it and so did the kids.

Here are a few pictures.........
